Cendant Hotels to Get High-Speed Net Access
Cendant Corp., one of the nation’s largest hotel franchisers, said it will provide high-speed Internet access to more than 700,000 guest rooms at its moderate and low-priced properties.
Cendant, which is scheduled to announce the new service today, will begin the Internet service in January at more than 6,000 properties operated under the Ramada, Howard Johnson, Days Inn, Super 8, Travelodge, Knights Inn and Villager Lodge brands. The service will be provided under a five-year agreement with CAIS Internet Inc., an Internet service provider, and VirtuaLINC Corp., which provides Internet services for hotels, convention centers and other travel-related businesses.
“High-speed Internet access may come to be as common . . . in mid-market and economy properties as it is in more expensive hotels,” said Eric Pfeffer, president and chief executive of the Cendant hotel unit.
