The city’s Transportation Authority is here to stay.

The board will be shifting its focus, however, following the City Council’s decision this month to reject a local elevated rail system in favor of transferring more than $120 million to the Orange County Transportation Authority for a countywide light-rail project called CenterLine.

If OCTA’s Board of Directors approves the deal at its meeting Nov. 8, CenterLine construction would begin in Irvine and put the city at the forefront of light-rail transit in Orange County, city officials said.
