MISSION VIEJO
The La Tierra Preschool Education Center, slated for a Nov. 16 grand-opening celebration, gives developmentally disabled children free one-on-one therapy, specialized physical education programs, and a diagnostic clinic all under one roof--a first for the Saddleback Valley Unified School District.
The center, on the grounds of La Tierra Elementary School in Mission Viejo, opened last month and culminates a two-year effort by the district to consolidate its five smaller specialized preschools on one site. The new $700,000 center offers a larger, more comprehensive program specially suited for 3- and 4-year-olds with language delays, developmental disabilities and autism.
