Santa Monica Hotel Now Fairmont Miramar

The former Miramar Sheraton Hotel in Santa Monica will now be managed as part of the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts chain. The hotel will be known as the Fairmont Miramar Hotel Santa Monica. The change comes a few weeks after Maritz, Wolff & Co., a Los Angeles-based investment firm, purchased the 302-room property at Wilshire Boulevard and Ocean Avenue for about $90.6 million from an affiliate of Japan’s Fujita Corp. The hotel’s new owners also own 50% of the Fairmont hotel group, which manages more than 16,000 hotel rooms in North America and the Caribbean. Karl Buchta has been appointed general manager of the hotel.
