On a night when Buena Park saluted its senior football players, Chris Miller made sure he earned the respect.

Miller ran for 139 yards and three touchdowns in his final home game and caught a 25-yard pass for another score to lead the host Coyotes to a 34-0 Freeway League victory over Sunny Hills Friday.

Miller’s first touchdown came with 8 minutes left in the first quarter. He took a handoff and sliced through the Lancer defense for an 18-yard score. He later scored on runs of 24 and 25 yards.

“This was a total team victory,” Miller said. “Coach [Manny] Saiz’ game plan was perfect and our offense and defense just clicked.”

Sunny Hills struggled on offense all night. The Lancers gained only 40 yards in the first half and didn’t reach Buena Park territory until the third quarter. Their best chance for a score came in the fourth quarter when backup quarterback James Drummond led a drive to the Buena Park four-yard line, but the Coyotes’ Evan Lopez and Randy Prock sacked Drummond on consecutive plays to end the threat. Prock had three sacks for the Coyotes (4-4, 2-1 in league).

Sunny Hills is 2-6, 0-3.
