“Hollywood May Finally Make a Comeback” (Oct. 24) pointed to the many multimillion-dollar projects that are touted to generate a renaissance in Hollywood. It failed to make mention of the Hollywood Beautification Team, an organization whose resources of labor, brooms and paint have done more to transform Hollywood in the last five years than any multimillion-dollar investment.
HBT’s founder, Sharyn Romano, is deserving of considerable credit in creating Hollywood’s new, cleaner, more beautiful and safer image. It is her army that we all see in yellow T-shirts sweeping the boulevard, painting out graffiti and planting trees throughout Hollywood. Economic revitalization is often encouraged by the subtle changes generated by grass-roots organizations such as HBT.
