Smith Micro Buys Web Commerce Firm

Smith Micro Software Inc., moving to strengthen its Internet offerings, said Monday it acquired Pacific Coast Software, a San Diego Internet commerce company, for 1 million shares of stock.

Based on Smith Micro’s Monday closing price of $1.75 a share, the deal is valued at $1.75 million.

Aliso Viejo-based Smith Micro, which develops Internet communication software, said Pacific Coast’s products and services help businesses build and operate secure Internet-based storefronts.
