Rudy Lugo has another reason to love Canoga Park, as if he needed one.

Lugo has coached at the school since 1969, the last 13 years as the varsity football coach, and his wife and sister graduated from there.

And this season his son, Christopher, is a starting wide receiver. Lugo had a team-high five catches for 62 yards and one touchdown in the Hunters’ 21-15 victory over Birmingham.

“That’s why I get so upset whenever anyone says something negative about Canoga,” Rudy Lugo said. “My whole family, my whole life, is wrapped into this school.”

Nothing about the Hunter passing attack should be unfamiliar. Senior quarterback Mike Spangle’s junior brother, Brian, is a Canoga Park receiver who had four catches for 85 yards against Birmingham.
