7 TONIGHT EL MODENA HIGH
The Wildcats performed well in their season-opening victory over Buena Park, rushing for 263 yards. Senior Kenny Washington averaged 15.1 yards per carry and scored three times. That’s not good news for the Comanches, who lost to El Dorado primarily because Golden Hawk tailback Nick Zehner rushed for 164 yards and four touchdowns last week. Defense is not the only concern for Canyon’s new coach, Matt McCain. His offense was shut out last week, as special teams supplied both touchdowns: an 88-yard kickoff return by Jerald Harvey and a blocked punt return by Ben Stuelke.
