Calvin Klein added spring softness to his trademark spare and tailored looks. There was a lightness and playfulness to his silk and chiffon georgette slips layered with sheer dresses of nylon, stretch chiffon, voile or jersey. A V-neck, ribbed jersey dress provided a long and sinuous line. A dress of white, layered, tulle squares over another of white, opaque, nylon-silk organza made a light and airy ensemble.

Colors were muted--pale blue, orchid and buff. Some fabric had fine micro-stripe or micro-check patterns, only visible with a close look.

White was an important color for daytime pants, shirts, jackets and coats, as was a palette of silver, nickel and platinum. The separates, as usual, provided neat and lean silhouettes. But the bottom line: Klein designs for a very select group of women--skinny.
