Friends of Library to Hold Used-Book Sale

* San Buenaventura Friends of the Library will hold its “Really, Big, Big Used Book Sale” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today in the Buenaventura Mall parking lot near Circuit City, Mills and Telegraph roads, Ventura. Proceeds will benefit Ventura libraries. Free admission. Information: 659-5103.

Autumn Tour Features 5 Private Homes

* The fourth annual Autumn Home Tour will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at five private homes on F, G and Deodar streets in Oxnard. Guests will be able to view the homes, built between 1910 and 1938, and learn the history associated with them. The tour will begin at 5th and H streets. Proceeds will benefit the Oxnard Plaza Park Bandstand Restoration Project, as well as the educational programs at the Ventura County Maritime Museum and Gull Wings Children’s Museum. $15. Pier Preservation Group to Hold Auction

* The annual Pier Under the Stars fund-raiser will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday under at the Buenaventura Pier, off Harbor Boulevard, Ventura. Local restaurants and wineries will provide food and drink, and the Ashford Gordan Band will play dance tunes. The program will include a silent auction. Proceeds will benefit Pier Into the Future, a nonprofit group working to preserve the pier. $25. Tickets: 654-7771.

Walk to Raise Funds for Diabetes Programs

* America’s Walk for Diabetes will be held Saturday at San Buenaventura State Beach off Harbor Boulevard, Ventura. Heart Association Sponsors Fun Run

* The American Heart Assn.’s American Heart Walk and 5K Fun Run will be held Saturday beginning at the Westlake Inn, 31943 W. Agoura Road, Westlake Village. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. with the walk and run at 8 a.m. Entertainment, food and health screenings will wrap up the event. Ventura Church to Present Auctions
