HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL ROUNDUP
Chaminade 5, Crespi 3--Sophomore Bobby Paschal earned the victory and drove in two runs to lead Chaminade (9-5, 5-3) to a Mission League upset at Crespi (12-2-1, 6-1-1).
Paschal (2-0) pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing six hits, before being relieved after No. 2-ranked Crespi scored a run on a walk, a single and a throwing error to pull within 5-2.
Reliever Jason Urquidez struck out Johnathan Oller, but Dustin Slade followed with a run-scoring single. Urquidez then struck out Chris Gallo to end the game and earn a save.
Justin Shore went two for three and drove in two runs for Chaminade. The Eagles took a 4-0 lead in the fifth when Mike Nesbit tripled and scored on a passed ball.
Dale Legaspi had three runs batted in for Crespi, which committed a season-high four errors. Celt ace Clint Kofmehl (5-1) allowed seven hits in 6 1/3 innings.
Notre Dame 6, St. Francis 5--Alec Moss’ two-out single drove in the winning run in the sixth inning for host Notre Dame (10-5, 8-2) in a Mission League game.
Ryan Brown hit a solo home run and had two RBIs for St. Francis (7-6-1, 3-4-1).
Harvard-Westlake 6, Alemany 5--David Milken’s run-scoring triple with one out capped a three-run rally in the seventh and lifted the Wolverines (10-4, 2-4) to a Mission League victory at Harvard-Westlake.
Chris Suazo had two hits and two RBIs for Alemany (6-11, 2-6).
Lancaster 13, Antelope Valley 9--The Eagles scored nine runs in the seventh for a come-from-behind victory in a Golden League game at Antelope Valley.
Ryan Jefferson’s bloop single gave Lancaster an 8-7 lead and Dusty Stowe followed with a two-run single.
Jefferson had three hits, three RBIs and scored two runs for Lancaster (12-5, 6-1). Stowe had two hits and three RBIs.
Jordy Carlon had two hits, three RBIs and scored twice for Antelope Valley (5-7, 2-5).
Quartz Hill 9, Littlerock 3--Eric Lingren had two hits and two RBIs for the Rebels (8-7, 3-4) in a Golden League victory at Quartz Hill.
Matt Lopez had two hits, one RBI and scored twice for Quartz Hill.
Sean Cross was three for three for Littlerock (2-11, 0-7).
Moorpark 6, Newbury Park 0--Sophomore Beto Macias (3-1) pitched a three-hitter and Chris Nealon hit a grand slam for the Musketeers (9-6, 3-6) in a Marmonte League victory at Moorpark.
Ventura 6, San Marcos 2--Chris Vega pitched a four-hitter, striking out seven, and Chris Moore had three RBIs for host Ventura (11-6-1, 4-1-1) in a Channel League game.
Rio Mesa 12, Buena 5--Andrew Tinoco and Saul Gallegos each hit run-scoring doubles and Nick Barroso hit a two-run single in a seven-run second inning for the Spartans (9-12) in a nonleague victory at Rio Mesa.
Campbell Hall 12, Brentwood 0--Michael Frost had two hits and five RBIs for the visiting Vikings (9-6, 2-0) in a Delphic League game called after six innings because of the 10-run rule.
Frost’s bases-loaded triple in the sixth gave Campbell Hall a 10-0 lead.
Village Christian 4, L.A. Baptist 3--Jeremy Gonzales won a pitching duel against Scott Swenson in an Alpha League game at L.A. Baptist.
Gonzales (6-0) threw a six-hitter with nine strikeouts and two walks. Swenson (3-4) threw a seven-hitter with nine strikeouts and three walks.
Village Christian (8-4, 1-0) scored the winning run in the fourth inning when Casey Fritts hit a one-out solo home run for a 4-1 lead.
L.A. Baptist (8-4-1, 1-1) rallied for two runs in the sixth on solo home runs by Swenson and Ryan Rycroft, but Joey Chavez grounded out to end the game.
St. Bonaventure 14, Fillmore 4--Mark Neumeister hit solo home runs in the second and fourth innings and finished with three RBIs for the Seraphs (10-2-1, 6-1) in a Tri-Valley League victory at St. Bonaventure.
Vasquez 12, Desert 1--Drew Pirtle pitched a five-inning one-hitter for Vasquez (9-3-1, 6-1) in a High Desert League game at Desert that was called because of the 10-run rule.
Pirtle (6-2), who has not allowed an earned run in 42 innings, struck out eight and walked four. He lost his bid for a no-hitter with two out in the fifth.
