* The tax-filing deadline is midnight today, giving most U.S. taxpayers a two-day reprieve because the traditional April 15 deadline fell on the weekend. But the IRS said more than half of the 127 million returns expected this year have already been filed.

* In observance of Jewish and Christian holidays this week, the U.S. bond market will close at 10 a.m. PDT on Thursday. U.S. financial markets will be closed Friday.
