Funco Inc., a seller of new and used video games, said it accepted Electronics Boutique Holdings Corp.’s sweetened offer of $21 a share, or $135 million. Funco said rival Electronics Boutique boosted the $17.50 a share it offered April 3 to match a higher offer made three days later by Barnes & Noble Inc. Funco said April 13 it would accept the higher bid, made through Barnes & Noble’s Babbage’s Etc. video-game software retail unit, if Electronics Boutique didn’t raise its offer within five business days. Eden Prairie, Minn.-based Funco also sells video-game hardware and accessories through 401 retail stores and its Web site. In Nasdaq trading Thursday, Funco shares closed at $21.28, up 53 cents, and West Chester, Pa.-based Electronics Boutique closed at $19.13, up 50 cents. Barnes & Noble closed off 13 cents at $17.75 on the NYSE.
