Crescenta Valley Teamwork Results in No-Hitter, 11-0
Morgan Smith and Kris Franks combined on a five-inning no-hitter, and Melissa Snee had a two-run triple for Crescenta Valley High in an 11-0 Pacific League victory at Muir shortened because of the 10-run rule.
Crescenta Valley (18-1, 6-0 in league play), ranked No. 1 in The Times’ regional poll, had 12 hits and capitalized on six errors. Mel McCauley had a two-run double for Crescenta Valley.
Smith (1-0) had eight strikeouts in four innings.
Arcadia 2, Hoover 1--Cori Herbert (8-8) pitched a five-hitter and struck out eight, but the Tornadoes lost a Pacific League game in 10 innings at Hoover.
Hoover (8-8, 3-3) tied the score in the seventh on Nicole Platt’s run-scoring single, but Arcadia (9-11, 4-2) scored in the 10th on a passed ball.
La Canada 3, Temple City 1--Jennifer Geisbauer doubled in one run and Jamie Hurst single in another as the Spartans (11-6, 9-0) won their 15th consecutive Rio Hondo League game at Temple City.
Sophomore Kelly Kalish (10-4) pitched a three-hitter, striking out one and recording 18 ground-ball outs.
Glendale 17, Pasadena 0--Elizabeth Cisneros pitched a no-hitter and had three hits for the Dynamiters in a Pacific League game at Glendale.
Cisneros struck out four and walked two for Glendale (9-7, 4-2).
Cathya Carranza had four hits and scored three runs.
Highland 8, Palmdale 2--Keri Pulcifer had two hits and two RBIs, and Ashley D’Errico had two hits, including a run-scoring double, for the Bulldogs (11-6, 5-1) in a Golden League game at Highland.
Quartz Hill 17, Littlerock 0--Jennifer Curtier hit a grand slam and drove in seven runs for the Rebels (14-6, 5-1) in a Golden League game called after five innings because of the 10-run rule at Littlerock.
Lancaster 9, Antelope Valley 2--Lacey Beaston pitched a four-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks for the Eagles in a Golden League victory at Lancaster.
Kianna Urbanski hit a three-run home run for the Eagles (13-9, 5-1).
Valencia 5, Burbank 0--Freshman Torri Rocco (5-1) threw a two-hitter and struck out four for the Vikings in a Foothill League game at Valencia.
Lauren Watson had two hits, including her fourth triple, for Valencia (11-7, 3-3).
Oak Park 6, Fillmore 1--Melissa Johnson (5-3) pitched a three-hitter and struck out seven, and Michelle Bregar had three hits and drove in two runs for the Eagles in a Tri-Valley League game at Fillmore.
Jannel Buckley had three hits and drove in a run for Oak Park (9-6, 5-1).
Agoura 2, Royal 1--Amanda Oleson and Alicia White hits triples for the Chargers in a two-run fourth in a Marmonte League game at Rancho Simi Community Park.
Lindsey Tsumpes pitched a five-hitter with five strikeouts for Agoura (9-9, 4-5).
