Pottery Barn Site Debuts

Furniture and housewares chain Pottery Barn will inaugurate its Web site today (https://www.potterybarn.com), hoping to get a jump on traffic by launching at 12:01 a.m. In addition to shopping online, visitors to the site can take a “home tour,” featuring the store’s new designs, products and decorating hints. Pottery Barn, owned by Williams-Sonoma Inc., said the site will offer instructions for home decorating projects and a glossary of design terms. Although the company’s namesake kitchen stores have been online for more than a year, executives said they thought it was more important to design a new site specifically for Pottery Barn than to try to use Williams-Sonoma technology for a different store.
