St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church will not be holding Mass in a tent on the church grounds this weekend as originally planned. Church officials have not been able to get the necessary permits from the city in time to prepare the tent for services Saturday and Sunday. Instead, Mass will be held at the Servite High School auditorium in Anaheim.
The sanctuary of St. Philip Benizi was gutted last week in an arson fire. The Rev. Todd D. Brown, bishop of the Orange County Diocese, visited the site Wednesday.
Father Ignatius M. Kissel said the church will host its first Mass on church grounds since the fire at a service Monday evening honoring St. Peregrine, patron saint for people with incurable diseases. Information: (714) 871-3610.
