Glenn David Sherrill, a retired obstetrician and gynecologist, died at his home in Ventura on Sunday after a long illness. He was 73.
He was born on Jan. 17, 1927, in Gastonia, N.C.
Sherrill attended Duke University and Wofford College. He received his medical degree from Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University.
After a one-year internship in Atlantic City, N.J., he completed his residency at Georgetown University. During his internship, he met his future wife, Regina, a surgical nurse.
In 1959, the couple moved to Ventura, where he joined Dr. Bruce Balding in his practice.
Sherrill retired in 1990. His hobbies included reading and traveling.
In addition to his wife of 45 years, he is survived by son Glenn David Sherrill of Blackhawk, Calif.; daughters Elizabeth Vallino of Santa Barbara, Melissa Sherrill of Vacaville, and Rebecca Fitoussi of Los Angeles; brother Thomas Sherrill of Columbus, Ga.; sister Nancy Sherrill of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and one grandson.
Graveside services are scheduled at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura with the Rev. Jerome Kahler of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
