The Harvard-bound Lingman is a first team Times’ all-county selection for the third time. She capped a tremendous career with a 60-0 record in dual singles sets and a 16-0 mark in doubles sets. Lingman led the Warriors to a semifinal finish in the Division II playoffs and came within a match of winning the Southern Section individual singles championship.

The Century League MVP won 55 of 57 sets in dual matches, losing only to Tracy Lin and Susanna Lingman. She led the Spartans to a co-Century League title and a quarterfinal finish in the Division II playoffs. Nelson had regular-season victories over Lin, Elizabeth Exon and Anne Yelsey. She fell to Exon in three sets in the section individual quarterfinals.

Yelsey defeated teammate Brittany Reitz in three sets to win the Pacific Coast League singles title. In helping lead the Sea Kings to the Division IV title, Yelsey won 60 of 64 dual-match sets. She had victories over Exon, Kady Pooler and Chelsy Thompson of Dana Hills, Shilpa Joshi and Colby Comstock of Peninsula and Aimee Kim of University.

Leslie Damion and Brittany Holland

This duo went 36-0 in dual matches and won the Pacific Coast League doubles title. In the section individual semifinals, they had a match point on eventual champions Jamie Pagliano and Christine Setian of Peninsula before losing a third-set tiebreaker. Damion was 52-11 in singles and doubles, Holland was 57-9.

The Sunset League doubles champions had never played together until this year, but they had the chemistry of a seasoned doubles team. The duo didn’t lose a set in the section individual tournament until the semifinals, where they fell to top-seeded and defending champions Sandra and Carla Rocha of Claremont.

Stacey Lee and Veronica Fermin

Lee and Fermin won 45 of 51 sets in dual matches and were 13-2 in the playoffs. In the section individual tournament, Lee and Fermin came from a set down to defeat Dana Hills’ Kristin Bronowicki and Kristin Wilson in the third round. They lost in the round of 16 to eventual champions Pagliano and Setian of Peninsula.

Fletcher Olson

NEWPORT HARBOR COACH

Along with assistant Shea Overfelt, Olson led the Sailors back to a section final despite losing seven seniors and No. 1 singles player Natalie Braverman. The Sailors, who lost to Peninsula in the Division I final in 1999, fell to Palm Desert in the Division III championship this year.

SECOND TEAM

ElIZABETH EXON, Woodbridge, So.

Won 63 of 67 dual-match sets, reached the section individual semifinals with upset of second-seeded Nelson in quarterfinals.

TRACY LIN, Canyon, Fr.

Won 33 of 34 dual-match sets, losing only to Nelson. She reached the quarterfinals of the section individual quarterfinals before losing to Lingman.

BRITTANY REITZ, Corona del Mar, Jr.

Became first county player in 10 years to win section individual singles title. Reitz, who won six tournament matches in straight sets, was ineligible the first six weeks.

MICHELLE DINH, TROY, Jr.

KAREN EITAN, Troy, Jr.

Won 41 of 48 dual-match sets, including 14 of 15 in the Division II playoffs, reached the third round of section individual doubles tournament before losing to Damion and Holland in straight sets.

KRISTIN BRONOWICKI, Dana Hills, So.

CATIE REAMES, Dana Hills, Jr.

They didn’t play together in the section individual doubles tournament, but during the season Bronowicki and Reames won 42 of 45 dual-match sets, including sweeps of Troy, Laguna Beach, Capistrano Valley, University and Woodbridge.

JODIE NYGAARD, Mater Dei, Sr.

CASEY KNUTSON, Mater Dei, Jr.

The Serra League doubles champions helped Mater Dei advance to the Division III semifinals as singles players. As a team, they reached the quarterfinals of the section individual tournament before losing to Holland and Damion, 6-3, 6-4.
