KING-DUCKS REPORT
Defenseman Oleg Tverdovsky extended his consecutive point streak to eight games (three goals, 10 assists) with a goal and an assist against the Kings.
Tverdovsky has ignited the Ducks’ woeful power play since joining the first unit two weeks ago. He also has surpassed his 1998-99 total of 25 points with 32 in only 55 games.
But Coach Craig Hartsburg says he was almost as pleased with Tverdovsky’s play in December, when he was in the midst of a 13-game skid without a point.
“Oleg has done everything we could have asked from him, and more,” Hartsburg said of Tverdovsky, who was reacquired last summer from the Phoenix Coyotes. “He’s been just outstanding, one of our hardest competitors. Oleg has gotten better and better as the games have become more difficult.”

Left wing Paul Kariya has four goals and two assists in four games against Dallas. Seeking help in their injury-depleted defense corps, the Stars acquired defensemen Sylvain Cote and Dave Manson from the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday. Dallas gave up defenseman Kevin Dean, center Derek Plante and a second-round pick in the 2001 draft.
