Pepperdine Catcher is No. 8 Prospect

Catcher Dane Sardinha of Pepperdine is ranked as the No. 8 college prospect by Baseball America magazine.

Also in the top 100 are Joe Borchard, a Stanford outfielder from Camarillo High, at No. 10; Mike Schultz, a Loyola Marymount pitcher from Cleveland High, at No. 26, and Bill Scott, a UCLA outfielder from Alemany at No. 27.

John Wilson, a Kentucky catcher from L.A. Baptist who played his freshman year at Cal State Northridge, is No. 34.

FOOTBALL

Mike Herrington of Hart and Bob Francola of Kennedy were selected as coaches for the East-West all-star game, sponsored by the Valley Youth Conference, June 10 at Cal State Northridge.

Erik Affholter, former wide receiver at Oak Park High and USC, will be inducted into the Oak Park Hall of Fame on Saturday night at Sunset Hills Country Club.

Paul Castillo, a 1965 graduate of San Fernando Valley State, now Cal State Northridge, has been hired as assistant commissioner of the Southern Section.
