Historian to Speak at Aquinas College
A University of Tulsa historian will speak Friday on the American Revolution during a “distinguished lecturer” visit to Thomas Aquinas College.
Paul A. Rahe’s lecture, “How Radical was the American Revolution,” will be followed by a round-table discussion where Rahe will answer questions.
He earned his bachelor’s in history from Yale University in 1971 and his PhD from Yale in 1977. His major fields are ancient Greek and Roman history and European intellectual history.
Rahe has taught on the faculties of Yale, Cornell University, Franklin and Marshall College and the University of Tulsa.
The college’s “Distinguished Visiting Lecturer Program” series is made possible by a grant from the E.L. Wiegand Foundation of Reno.
Previous lecturers have included presidential candidate Alan Keyes and Father Robert Sokolowski, a professor of philosophy at Princeton University. Upcoming lecturers include Christopher Bruell, who will speak on the philosophy of Plato, and Robert George, another Princeton philosophy professor.
Admission to Rahe’s lecture is free and open to the public. It begins at 7:30 p.m. in the campus’ St. Joseph Commons. Thomas Aquinas College is at 10000 N. Ojai Road, Santa Paula. For more information, call 525-4417.
