* Outdoors films--Best of the 24th annual Banff Mountain Film Festival will screen Friday at 7:30 p.m. at UC Santa Barbara’s Campbell Hall. The popular screening features the top international films about mountain climbing, outdoor adventure, wildlife, the environment and mountain culture. * Historic preservation--A benefit for the Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation will be held Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Presidio Chapel, 123 E. Canon Perdido St., Santa Barbara. * Classical--Camerata Pacifica Baroque will perform Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Unitarian Society sanctuary, 1535 Santa Barbara St., Santa Barbara. The program will be devoted to works by Vivaldi, including seldom-heard cantatas. * Photographer--The work of photographer Roman Vishniac will be remembered during a special event Monday at 8 p.m. at UC Santa Barbara’s Campbell Hall. “The Life, Vision and Artistic Work of Roman Vishniac” will be attended by his daughter, Mara Vishniac Kohn, who will discuss the photographer’s diverse body of work and his early fascination with microscopes. Yiddish scholar Miriam Hartman Flacks, co-editor with Kohn of the book “Children of a Vanished World,” which features Vishniac’s photographs of children, will discuss the role of Yiddish in the lives and culture of Eastern European Jewry. * Dance--SMUiN Ballets/SF will perform Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Lobero Theatre, 33 E. Canon Perdido St., Santa Barbara. The flashy troupe, which fuses ballet and jazz dance works choreographed by Michael Smuin, will present a two-part program featuring original works: “Chants d’Auvergne,” depicting the romance of life in a French village, and “Dances With Songs,” showy sequences set to hits by Nat King Cole, Elvis Presley, Linda Ronstadt, Willie Nelson and others.
