Driver Arrested After Crash That Injures 4
OXNARD — A 23-year-old Oxnard man was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and hit and run after allegedly causing a crash that injured four people, including a father and his 4-year-old daughter, authorities reported.
Tony Ortiz was taken into custody at his home after allegedly fleeing the scene of the crash, which occurred about 4:45 p.m. at Rose Avenue and Orange Drive just east of Oxnard.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Ortiz was driving his Ford Thunderbird when he struck a Chevrolet Tahoe. The impact caused the Tahoe to strike a guardrail and roll, officers said.
The driver of the Tahoe, Robert Raybon, 33, of Ventura, and another passenger were trapped inside and had to be rescued, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.
Raybon was admitted to Ventura County Medical Center with a ruptured bladder, fractured pelvis and lacerated left ear, authorities said.
The other victims, including Raybon’s daughter, were treated for less serious injuries at that hospital and at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard. Their names were not available.
