Prop. 1A
* Your Feb. 23 edition has a story (“Some Nevada Casinos Could Be Big Losers”) which indicates that the casinos should expect a $626-million loss with the passage of Prop. 1A.
This doesn’t bother me, but what does is that the California Lottery and its school support could experience a similar loss. This is something to be considered.

* The supporters of Prop. 1A, the “Indian self-reliance” measure, don’t necessarily support gaming. However, they do support a viable way for Native American tribes in California to finance businesses that will provide financial benefits to the tribes and the surrounding communities.
Californians already spend over $7 billion at Nevada casinos every year. Why not shortstop some of that money in California to benefit Californians? Makes sense to me. That’s why I am voting yes on Prop. 1A.
