Broadway Under the Stars (Arts Council Center, 482 Greenmeadow Ave., Thousand Oaks, 381-2747). Today-Sat. The Arts Council of the Conejo Valley’s annual fund-raiser features current and former members of the Conejo Valley Young Artists Ensemble staging songs and scenes from some of Broadway’s most beloved productions. Beach Ride 2000 (San Buenaventura State Beach & Park, Ventura, [800] 696-3727). Sun. Thousands of bikers take part in a morning ride for the annual fund-raiser benefiting the Exceptional Children’s Foundation. The ride ends at the beach site for live music, a tattoo contest, vendor booths and more. The music lineup includes Paul Rodgers, World Classic Rockers, John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers. Seabee Museum (Naval Construction Battalion Center, Port Hueneme, 982-5191). Weekdays, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; Sat., 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; Sun., 12:30-4:30 p.m. A large-format photography exhibition features the work of a team of photographers directed by Edward Steichen, who documented the U.S. Navy during WWII. Contributors: Horace Bristol, Charles Kerlee, Fenno Jacobs, Victor Jorgenson, Wayne Miller and Dwight Long. The exhibit was prepared by Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibit Service. Stagecoach Inn Museum (51 S. Ventu Park Road, Newbury Park, 498-9441). Wed.-Sun., 1-4 p.m. “Discovering a Sense of Place: 19th Century Conejo Founding Families,” an exhibit dedicated to the founding families of the Conejo Valley. A permanent exhibit of artifacts describes the history of the Chumash in the Conejo Valley. A reproduction of the onetime stagecoach stop and hotel includes a large display of artifacts, one-room schoolhouse, pioneer home, Spanish adobe and Chumash display.
