SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
The city is planning to appeal to Rep. Ron Packard (R-Oceanside) next week to find a solution to aerobatic airplanes that fly over its east side.
City residents have complained about noise from the airplanes.
An area east of the city and south of Coto de Caza is zoned for aerobatic flying, but aerobatics within city limits are not allowed, said Bob Woods, operations inspector at the Long Beach Flight Standards District Office.
In a statement released Wednesday, Packard said his office has been working with the Federal Aviation Administration for two months to address residents’ concerns.
A federal inspector went to San Juan Capistrano last week and observed two private planes legally flying northeast of area homes, according to the statement.
