Interfaith Conference to Feature Panels on Youth, Peace, Justice
“Connect2000,” the annual conference of the North American Interfaith Network, is set for July 23 to 25 at Cal State Fullerton.
Hosted by the university’s Center for the Study of Religion in American Life and the Comparative Religion Department, the conference in the Titan Student Union will feature panels about youth, social justice, dialogue, peace building, social service, reconciliation, gender issues, education, interfaith worship and technology.
Bishop William Swing, founder of the United Religions Initiative, is the keynote speaker for the opening session, and Benjamin Hubbard, chairman of the Comparative Religion Department, will join Muzammil Siddiqi, director of the Islamic Society of Orange County, in a dialogue-lecture on the last day.
The North American Interfaith Network is a nonprofit association started to provide opportunities for interfaith organizations, academic institutions, news media and interested individuals to share their work, test ideas and gain understanding globally. The network sponsors online meetings, the yearly conference and a newsletter.
Registration for the three-day conference costs $95. For information, fax (949) 496-5535 or e-mail conference coordinator Kay Lindahl at kaylind@aol.com.
