* Update--Orlando, the Eastern Conference leader for much of the race, has slumped. The Miracle has lost four of its last five, after having won six in a row. Point guard Elaine Powell, the team’s sparkplug off the bench, tore up her knee last week and is lost for the season. The Miracle is getting at least 12.4 points a game from four starters, but the drop-off after that is steep. Orlando is in second place in the East, one-half game behind New York. The first-place Sparks, down to their second-last regular-season home game, seek their sixth consecutive victory tonight and their 18th in the last 19 games.
