Defensive tackle Eric Swann followed Reggie White to Carolina, signing with a one-year deal with the Panthers on Monday.

Swann, a 10-year veteran, was released by the Arizona Cardinals two weeks ago and had been shopping himself around to interested teams. The Jacksonville Jaguars and Denver Broncos made Swann guaranteed offers, but he held out for the Panthers.

The native of Swann Station, N.C., wanted to play in his home state and with White, who signed with Carolina on Sunday.

Swann’s agent, Steve Zucker, said the deal is worth about the league minimum of $440,000 for veterans.

Jacksonville right tackle Leon Searcy could be out for the season after tearing a tendon above his right knee during practice.

The injury came during one-on-one drills at the start of morning practice at training camp. Searcy rode off the field on a cart, clutching his right knee, wincing in pain. He’ll need surgery.

The Jaguars said Searcy suffered a “significant tear” of the quadriceps tendon. The team didn’t say how long the ninth-year Pro Bowl tackle will be out, but bad tears of the quadriceps can take up to nine months to heal.
