Mater Dei, Foothill to Meet on Saturday

The game most Orange County softball fans have been waiting for will finally take place Saturday, when the Southern Section Division I title is decided. Top-seeded Mater Dei (31-1) will be the host team against third-seeded Foothill (32-2) for the 7:30 p.m. game at Mayfair Park in Lakewood.

The Southern Section announced the dates and times for the six championship softball games on Wednesday.

Pacifica (24-8-1) will also be the home team when it plays top-seeded Hacienda Heights Wilson (26-4-1) at 5 p.m. Friday at Mayfair Park to determine the Division III champion.

The schedule:

Friday: Division III--No. 1 Hacienda Heights Wilson (26-4-1) vs. Pacifica (24-8-1), 5 p.m.; Division V--Ventura St. Bonaventure (19-10) vs. No. 1 Thousand Oaks La Reina (23-4), 7:30 p.m.

Saturday: Division II--No. 3 Corona (28-3) vs. No. 1 Cerritos (30-2), 10 a.m.; Division IV--West Hills Chaminade (18-12) vs. Calabasas (21-7), 1 p.m.; Division VI--No. 2 Temecula Linfield (22-8) vs. Boron (20-5), 4:30 p.m.; Division I--No. 3 Foothill (32-2) vs. No. 1 Mater Dei (31-1), 7:30 p.m.
