Poll on Gays
* The new poll by the Human Rights Campaign and Decision Research (“Gays Gaining Acceptance in State, Poll Finds,” June 14) produced some seemingly contradictory results. Eighty-one percent of those polled said they oppose discrimination based on sexual orientation, while 57% oppose legalizing same-sex marriages. I defy anyone in the majority on both questions to explain how these two positions are compatible.
