Everett Harrington; Retired County Accountant
Everett W. Harrington, a retired accountant, died Sunday at a Ventura convalescent hospital after a brief illness. He was 84.
Harrington was born Dec. 9, 1915, in Santa Paula. He later attended college in Los Angeles and met his future wife there. He served in the Army during World War II.
After the war, Harrington and his wife moved to Ventura and he became an accountant at Brock Vegetable Co. in Oxnard. He later worked for 17 years for the county of Ventura as an accountant and auditor before retiring in 1978.
Harrington loved to play bridge, poker and travel--he had been on 11 cruises.
He is survived by his sisters Mildred Newman of Ventura, Dorothy Donaldson of Camarillo and Helen Gallio of Santa Paula, and a brother, Merrill of Palm Desert.
Harrington was preceded in death by his wife, Edeyth in 1994; their daughter, Margaret Paula Harrington in 1956, and two brothers, Harold and Melvin.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura, which is handling the arrangements.
Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Milt Davis officiating.
Private burial will follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assn. of Ventura County in Camarillo or the American Lung Assn. of Ventura County in Oxnard.
