Girl, 10, Is Charged With Threatening to Shoot Classmates
SANTA ROSA, Calif. — Sonoma County authorities filed charges against a 10-year-old girl who allegedly called in a threat to shoot classmates.
The girl, whose name was not released because of her age, was charged Monday with making a threat to commit a crime involving death or serious injury.
Officials believe the girl called the Willowside Middle School on Wednesday to warn of plans to shoot students. The school and a charter school on the same campus were closed after the threat was received. They reopened Friday.
“We want to discourage this type of thing from happening again,” said Chief Deputy Dist. Atty. Ken Gnoss.
The girl faces three years in Juvenile Hall if she is convicted.
