Ivey Poison to Simi Valley
Megan Ivey’s eight-inning double scored Elizabeth Harkins to give Saugus High a 4-3 victory over Simi Valley on Tuesday in a nonleague softball game at Rancho Santa Susana Community Park.
Ivey (1-0) also earned the victory for Saugus (1-0), allowing one run on three hits with five strikeouts in three innings of relief. Jamie Astorino (1-1) took the loss.
Jennie Shields’ seventh-inning single tied the score for Simi Valley (2-1), driving in Brittney Green. Shields also had a sacrifice fly, and Green had three hits.
Julie Watson had four hits and two stolen bases for Saugus.
Quartz Hill 3, Apple Valley 0--Olaya Salazar’s two-run triple keyed a three-run fourth inning for the Rebels (2-1) in a nonleague game at Quartz Hill.
Junior Mandy Ricker threw a two-hitter and struck out 10 for Quartz Hill.
Hart 4, Highland 3--Jocelyn Evans highlighted a four-run second inning with a three-run home run, and Amanda Fortune struck out five in two innings of relief to earn her first save in a nonleague game at Highland.
Ashlie D’Errico had two doubles and drove in two runs for Highland (1-1).
Dos Pueblos 2, Westlake 1--Stephanie Elliott drove in the winning run in the ninth for host Dos Pueblos (2-0).
Erin Voeltz allowed three hits, struck out 14 and walked three for No. 5 Westlake (2-1).
Katie Kearns had two of Westlake’s three hits off Elliott, who struck out 10.
Lancaster 5, Granite Hills 3--Braidee Wible doubled and hit a solo home run for the Eagles (1-0) in a nonleague victory at Lancaster.
Agoura 3, Chatsworth 0--Freshman Lindsay Tsumpes pitched a two-hitter and struck out eight for the Chargers (2-1) in a nonleague game at Agoura.
Valencia 3, Alemany 2--Carrie Mitchell scored from second base on a fielding error in the bottom of the seventh to give host Valencia a nonleague victory.
Mitchell went three for four. Lauren Watson hit a two-run home run in the third inning.
Verdugo Hills 8, Van Nuys 7--Marisa Mochizuki hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning and a three-run shot in the seventh for host Van Nuys (1-1).
Viewpoint 17, St. Genevieve 3--Elisa Smith had four hits, two RBIs and struck out seven for Viewpoint in a nonleague game at St. Genevieve.
Grace Brethren 5, Valley Christian 1--Jamie Palacios had eight strikeouts for the Lancers in a nonleague opener at Grace Brethren.
Antelope Valley 15, Rosamond 10--Freshman Krystal Alfaro had a double, a triple and five RBIs to lead Antelope Valley (1-1) in a nonleague game at Rosamond.
