Farm Products Maker Reports Profits Up 19%

American Vanguard Corp., a Newport Beach agricultural products company, reported fourth-quarter net income of $2.5 million, or $1 a share, 19% higher than the $2.1 million, or 84 cents a share, posted a year ago. Sales declined 10% to $24.2 million. Net income for the year rose 52% to $3.2 million, or $1.31 a share, from $2.1 million, or 85 cents a share, for the previous year. Sales were up 3% to $69.2 million.
