Homers by Harper, Archer Pace Golden West

Ty Harper and Eric Archer each hit home runs to help Golden West defeat Orange Coast, 10-3, in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game Saturday at Orange Coast.

Phillip Archer had three hits and drove in three runs for Golden West, which led, 6-2, after three innings. Matt Larson went six innings to earn the victory for the Rustlers (11-6, 3-3 in conference).

Adam Anderson hit a home run for Orange Coast (5-12, 0-6).

In other OEC games:

Cypress 20, Saddleback 6--Matt Colin hit a two-run home run in the third and Kevin Snapp had four hits, including a home run, for Cypress (16-2, 4-2).

Riverside 8, Fullerton 3--Derrick Van Dusen gave up four hits, struck out 11 and walked six for Riverside (16-2-1, 5-1). Fullerton is 8-10, 2-4.

In the Golden West softball tournament:

Fullerton 6, Victor Valley 5--Veronica Vargas scored the winning run on a single by Lisa Schiro in the top of the fourth for Fullerton (24-2). Schiro had two hits and scored twice for the Hornets in the pool-play game.
