SEASON AT A GLANCE: The right-handed pitcher has allowed one run in 11 innings for Valencia (4-0). Last season, he was 4-5 with a 3.74 earned-run average. He has signed with the University of San Francisco and ranks among the region’s most improved pitchers.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Green pitched a two-hitter with three strikeouts and no walks in a 6-2 victory over El Camino Real, one of the region’s top hitting teams. He needed only 71 pitches in seven innings. “He had them off balance,” Coach Jared Snyder said. “They swung at a lot of pitches.”

YEAR: Junior
SPORT: Softball
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Dean is quickly establishing herself as one of the top catchers in the region. She has handled a deep and talented Hart pitching staff with aplomb, helping the Indians (6-0) to the No. 3 ranking in The Times’ regional poll.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Dean was chosen most valuable player of the Hart tournament after going five for eight in the last two games. She had two runs batted in and was three for four in a 5-4 victory over Highland in the title game. She had a run-scoring single in a 1-0 semifinal victory over Westlake.
