Pointed Remarks About Spearing

All of the Kings got a bit of chastising, and Sean O’Donnell will get a dose of it personally from Coach Andy Murray for spearing Mighty Duck rookie Vitaly Vishnevski, but that should be the end of it.

At least in Murray’s eyes.

“We’ve taken a look at it a few times [on videotape] and it doesn’t look that serious,” Murray said Wednesday. “Don’t get me wrong, it’s something that shouldn’t have happened.”

O’Donnell received a two-minute spearing penalty and a game misconduct for the incident, which occurred with 2:13 to play in Tuesday night’s game. At game’s end, Duck Coach Craig Hartsburg lobbied for league punishment of O’Donnell, comparing the incident to that involving San Jose’s Bryan Marchment and the Ducks’ Paul Kariya on Friday.

Marchment received a three-game suspension.

King goalie Stephane Fiset could start tonight at Philadelphia, depending on several things, including how he feels during this morning’s skate.

Fiset has been out since suffering a groin strain March 4, and Jamie Storr has started the eight games since, giving up 13 goals in the first seven, but being hammered for five by the Ducks.

A factor in Fiset’s favor: He is 8-3-2 lifetime against the Flyers, with a 2.89 goals-against average.
