2 More Telecom Deals Downtown
Two telecommunications companies recently signed leases totaling 67,000 square feet at 611 W. 6th St. in downtown Los Angeles. They are the latest tenants in a series of downtown deals involving rapidly growing telecom firms that want space not for office workers but to house switching equipment connected to the central city’s fiber-optic lines and communications hubs.
Coudersport, Pa.-based cable TV operator Adelphia Communications Corp. signed a 15-year, $13-million lease for 32,000 square feet in the 42-story high-rise formerly known as AT&T; Center, according to William Atha of Grubb & Ellis, who represented Adelphia in lease negotiations.
In the other lease, MetroMedia Fiber Network Services Inc., a provider of fiber-optic communications for corporate and governmental customers, signed a 10-year, $8.8-million lease for 35,000 square feet. MetroMedia was represented by Kevin Bender of Insignia/ESG. Eric Moore of Millennium Advisors MSN represented the landlord, 611 West 6th St. Associates of Los Angeles, in both leases.
Telecom tenants have filled a number of downtown Los Angeles office buildings in recent times that had languished as traditional office spaces.
