MISSION VIEJO
The Planning Commission unanimously approved a petition submitted by Geofrey English of Saddleback College to hang temporary banners along Marguerite Parkway to promote the Saddleback Civic Light Opera Performing Arts Program.
The college requested permission to hang 26 banners on 14 light poles along Marguerite Parkway, between Avery Parkway and Oso Parkway.
The college hung banners in the same area for the entire 74 days of the opera series last year and requested a permit to do the same this season. The city normally allows temporary street signs to be hung for a period of 45 days.
The Planning Commission agreed to a compromise allowing the signs to be hung for 60 days during the performances.
