* Lawyers for Amgen Inc. argued in a closely watched patent case that the Thousand Oaks-based biotech giant did not act inequitably regarding a patent for its lead drug Epogen. In an out-of-court hearing, U.S. District Judge William Young in Boston took under advisement Amgen’s request for a summary judgment of claims by Transkaryotic Therapies Inc. that Amgen has not fully disclosed certain information and withheld data in its patent application, Amgen spokesman David Kaye said. Transkaryotic, based in Cambridge, Mass., is claiming a unique process for making Epogen that does not violate Amgen patents. A full trial on the patent infringement claims is expected to begin in late April or in May.
