73 Dead, 100 Missing After Ferries Capsize

At least 73 people have died and more than 100 are missing and feared drowned a day after two ferries caught in a storm sank in the Meghna River in eastern Bangladesh, officials said. Rescuers Wednesday pulled out 27 bodies from the two vessels. A search for those still missing was suspended at nightfall. One ferry capsized Tuesday with more than 150 people aboard 50 miles east of Dhaka, the capital. In Narsinghdi district, northeast of Dhaka, at least 20 of 61 people aboard swam ashore as their ferry sank.
