All Saints Hosts ‘Bread of Life’ Meal

All Saints Episcopal Church of Oxnard will have a week of activities beginning with a “Bread of Life” dinner in the parish hall at 5:30 p.m. today.

Worship services Sunday will be at 8 and 11 a.m., with a Spanish service at 9:30 a.m. African ministries gifts will be available in the parish hall at 12:15 p.m.

Classes Sunday will include a 9:30 a.m. adult lectionary Bible study led by the Rev. Warren V. Porter and a 10:30 a.m. Christian education for children.

A Christian spirituality meeting will be held in the parish hall at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.

There will be a Holy Eucharist and healing service in Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

A Bible study class will be held at 1:30 p.m., and choir rehearsal will be in Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

A youth Bible study group will meet at 5 p.m. Friday.

Seminar to Examine Sexuality

Sonrise Christian Fellowship of Simi Valley will present the seminar “Redeeming Sexuality” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.

Archibald Hart, professor of psychology at Fuller Theological Seminar in Pasadena and author of more than 20 books, and his daughter, Catherine Hart Weber, co-author of “The Secrets of Eve: Understanding the Mystery of Female Sexuality,” will present the seminar.

The public is invited. The cost is $20 per person and $30 per couple before May 1 and $25 per person and $35 per couple at the door.

Mass Schedule at St. Anthony’s

St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Oxnard will celebrate a Mass at 5:15 p.m. today. The sacrament of penance will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Minister Examines ‘Positive Anger’

Methodists Selling Benefit Dinners

The United Methodist Shack will sell barbecue dinners for $6.50 at the Conejo Valley Days in Thousand Oaks this weekend, with proceeds going to charities including Habitat for Humanity.

Course Focuses on Insights of Soul

The Conejo Jewish Academy of Agoura Hills is offering a three-part course on the “Mystical Insights of the Soul” on three consecutive weeks beginning at 8 p.m. Monday.

Participants will study the Kabbalistic view of the afterlife, reincarnation and resurrection with instructor Rabbi Yosroel Levine.

Workshop Offers Tips for Parents

“Discipline, Self-Esteem and Motivating Children” will be the theme of a workshop sponsored by St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church in Thousand Oaks at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the church’s Thomas Aquinas Hall.

Howard Levitt, a licensed marriage and family counselor with more than 25 years experience, will provide ideas that can be put into practice immediately as well as share techniques on how to provide discipline while maintaining a child’s positive self-image. He will also discuss warning signs exhibited by children struggling with psychological problems.

The public is invited to St. Paschal Baylon School’s seventh annual fashion show luncheon and silent auction at 10:30 a.m. May 13 in the church’s St. Thomas Aquinas Hall in Thousand Oaks.

Presale tickets are $35, $40 at the door.

Church members will model fashions from Robinsons-May. The silent auction includes a Sony Playstation and gift certificates for local restaurants, hotels, art classes and a fitness club membership.

Indian Classical Dance Featured

In connection with the anniversary of the Hindu Temple at Malibu and the sanctification of the new millennium, there will be a performance of Indian classical dance by Ojai resident Sandhya Jade Kedaran and Meena Raman. Both are disciples of Guru Padmashri Adyar K. Lakshman, one of India’s respected dance masters and choreographers. Accompanying the dancers will be an ensemble of musicians from Madras, India.

The performance will be held immediately after the temple rituals about 3 p.m. May 14. The performance is free and open to the public.

Course to Discuss Anger Control

A four-part course titled “Living La Vida Tranquila” will take place at the Conejo Jewish Academy in Agoura Hills starting at 8 p.m. May 16 with classes on finding joy and controlling anger.
