Woman Making Illegal U-Turn Dies; 3 People Are Injured
A 66-year-old woman died and two children were injured in a car accident in Anaheim on Saturday, police said.
The woman was eastbound on La Palma Avenue near Shepard Street about 7 p.m. when the accident occurred.
Police said she attempted an illegal U-turn from the right-hand lane when her car was broadsided by a vehicle traveling in the same direction.
Paramedics found the 66-year-old woman in what appeared to be cardiac arrest, said Anaheim Police Lt. Kahle Switzer. The woman was pronounced dead at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.
Two children in the woman’s car, both under 10, suffered minor bumps and bruises during the crash.
The 33-year-old driver of the other car suffered moderate injuries and was taken to UCI Medical Center, where she remained late Saturday.
Names were withheld pending notification of relatives, Switzer said.
