Reward for Simi Valley Rapist Climbs to $25,000

The reward for the capture of a serial rapist in Simi Valley has climbed to $25,200, thanks to $5,000 donations in recent weeks from two of the city’s largest employers, Farmers Insurance Group and Countrywide Credit Industries.

The council had placed a cap on the fund in August after donations surged to $15,200, just days after it was established. City officials then raised the limit to $25,200 in March, days after two women were assaulted on the same night.

The cap was created partly out of concern that someone with information might wait while the reward increased.

Police believe the assailant in the March crimes has committed nine other sexual assaults and rapes in the area since June 1996.

The most recent victims said their attacker was a white male between 17 and 25 years old, 5 feet 2 to 5 feet 8, with a medium build. The assailant in each incident wore a ski mask, police said. No sketches of a suspect have been released.

Anyone with information is asked to call Ventura County Crime Stoppers at 385-8255 or 494-8255, or the Simi Valley Police Department at 583-6950.
