St. Bonaventure Doubles Up on Titles
Vik Tikua and Todd Kinsling of St. Bonaventure High defeated David Levy and Ashkay Chakravarthy of Oak Park, 6-2, 6-0, to win the Tri-Valley League doubles tennis title Tuesday at Carpinteria.
Tikua and Kinsling beat Bobby Dupree and Richard Williams of Oak Park, 6-3, 7-5, in the semifinals.
John Vigorita of St. Bonaventure defeated teammate Sean Callaghan, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, to win the singles title.
Each singles player and doubles team that advanced to league championship matches qualified for the Southern Section tournaments.
Poly 26 1/2, Monroe 3--Marco Ceballos won, 6-0, 6-2, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 singles and Neil Tersoro and Jack Tulatammagul won 6-3, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1, at No. 1 doubles to lead the No. 8-seeded Parrots in a City Invitational semifinal victory at Warner Center Tennis Club.
Sherman Oaks CES 17 1/2, Chatsworth 12--No. 1 doubles Paul Pantapalondloin and Andy Toung swept their sets and the Knights won a City Invitational semifinal at the Warner Center.
Sherman Oaks CES won 10 of 16 singles matches.
Chatsworth No. 1 singles player Jason Nguyen swept his sets.
Sherman Oaks CES plays Poly in the final at 1 p.m. Thursday at Warner Center.
El Camino Real plays Granada Hills at the same time for the City Championship title.
BOYS’ GOLF
Grant 404, Palisades 414--The Lancers, led by Jason Joyal’s five-over-par 75, defeated the Dolphins in a City 6-A League match at Woodland Hills Country Club.
The Lancers are 4-8, 3-8 in league play.
Ed Turner of Palisades (6-5 in league) took medalist honors with a 72.
Granada Hills 387, Taft 491--Mike Ross and Steve Yoo each shot a 76 to earn co-medalists honors for Granada Hills (15-1) in a City 6-A League match at Woodland Hills Country Club.
