According to your poll, Vice President Al Gore has been losing support among former Democratic voters (May 10). Most dangerous for him could be the alienation of an important bedrock group--the liberals. Liberals have been frustrated by the direction the Democrats have been going the last few years, but they have stayed loyal because they had nowhere else to go.

Now they do--Ralph Nader and the Green Party. Nader has been receiving between 4% to 8% in recent polls. If Gore does not stay completely steadfast in support of basic liberal principles such as strong opposition to privatizing of Social Security and voucherizing Medicare, there could be a massive stampede of liberals to Nader.
