O.C. Toll Road
Never has one person been so wrong as is Robert Lobue, who is “amazed” that San Clementeans are complaining about the proposed Foothill South toll road (Letters, May 14). The growth of San Clemente is a separate issue. The only reason the two are being linked is because one proposed route would come out directly in town; the other would touch the outskirts before ruining the San Onofre State Park and wetland area by Trestles Beach. However many people live in San Clemente, they are not going to use the toll road just because it may be there. As with any road, people only go on it in order to get somewhere. Unless all the new San Clementeans find themselves working in Riverside, why would they even consider getting on this road?
The majority of new business buildings that spring up all have “for lease” signs. This shows that the growth is being spurred on by new roads, and not vice versa. And in regards to the bonus tax money we are apparently enjoying, please let me know where my money is, because my check hasn’t arrived.
