Thursday’s grand opening of the district’s newest elementary school will feature the daughter of its namesake.
The ceremony at Jim Thorpe Fundamental Elementary School will highlight the Native American’s accomplishments as an Olympic athlete. His daughter, Grace, will participate in the ribbon-cutting with Supt. Al Mijares and principal Betty Wagner.
The event will begin at 1:30 p.m. The school’s 760 students are expected to attend.
